2-19-16 Would I Open This Weekend? From Mark @ Westchester Golf Club

Nope. Right now we still have complete snow cover.  That means even with the 50°+ forecast we will have standing water on top of the frozen drain inlets until the drain lines thaw out. Each golfer takes an average of 75 steps per green which means with very soft greens we will have 67,500 footprints for […]

February Snow, Grinding, Tree Work!

Proverbs 25:13

Like the cold of snow in the time of harvest is a faithful messenger to those who send him; he refreshes the soul of his masters.
The low temperature was 6 this morning with a wind chill of -6. I was able to ride most of the course until The snow drift on 9 Players Cart path! The cold weather is scheduled to continue through the weekend. Please do not sled on the course it may be dangerous! If I catch your kids out there I will put them to work picking up branches and logs!

Jim is grinding the last set of greens reels today, and I am working on cleaning the tree tops up with the ground frozen. Thank you Mary Anne #14 looks great! Your chain saw work is commendable! We had about 4-5″ of snow at the golf course with more expected Monday, and then we will warm back up in to the high 40’s low 50’s a week from tomorrow, according to the forecast!

The Ramey’s, with the farm next door sent me these photos of their tree work being done by the Amish. Since they have a section of woods next to a field instead of a fairway Alan was able to bring his Beligian horses to pull the logs out. I hope to stop by later today and check them out.  That’s Real Horse Power!

The snow was 2 to 2.5 feet deep in spots along the path and the open holes on Players have very only a inch or two on the turf canopy.

Tuesday I was able to move some of the snow off the main drive!
